NanoViricides, Inc. (OTC BB: NNVC.OB) (the "Company"), is providing a summary of its achievements over the past 12 months.

Most significantly, the Company reported in June, 2008, that animals treated with its anti-HIV lead drug candidate exhibited survival time superior to that of animals treated with the standard three drug oral cocktail called HAART. These studies employed the well established SCID-Hu Thy/Liv mouse model and were conducted by KARD Scientific, Inc. The Company plans to perform additional studies to obtain further detailed information regarding the effect of the nanoviricide drug candidates on HIV in vivo.

NanoViricides, Inc. has reported in May, 2008, that its anti-EKC (epidemic keratoconjunctivitis) drug candidate exhibited excellent clinical improvement in an ophthalmic adenovirus infection animal model of this disease. These studies were conducted by scientists at the Feinstein Institute of Medical Research (FIMR), part of the North Shore-LIJ Health System. These studies were presented by the FIMR scientists at the 42nd annual meeting of the Ocular Microbiology and Immunology Group (OMIG) in Atlanta, Georgia, in November 2008. In addition, evaluation of our ophthalmic anti-herpes nanoviricide drug candidates will begin shortly at a renowned School of Veterinary Medicine in the US.

The Company further reports satisfactory progress in its anti-Rabies program. These studies are continuing at the US Centers for Diseases Control and Prevention (CDC).

The Company is presently in discussions with an independent research facility to perform anti-H5N1 animal studies with the Company’s drug candidates that were highly successful against H5N1 Clade 1 and Clade 2 in cell cultures. These nanoviricides were also found to be highly effective against common influenza (H1N1) in animal models.

The Company has previously reported positive results for its Ebola program. The first part of the program consisted of cell culture studies of the effect of nanoviricides against Ebola virus. Several nanoviricide drug candidates showed very high efficacy against Ebola in these studies. These studies were conducted by scientists at the United States Army Medical Research Institute for Infectious Diseases (USAMRIID). Subsequently, the Company was invited to submit a grant application to the TMTI program of the Department of Defense (DoD) and did so this January. The objective of the grant application is to further develop both the Ebola and Dengue programs of the Company. The DoD is interested in further development of our broad-spectrum nanoviricides in order to minimize stockpiling costs while still achieving high efficacies against a broad range of viruses.

The Company previously reported that it has signed certain agreements regarding further development of its eye drug candidate. In addition, several other potential collaboration partners have expressed a strong interest in pursuing co-development opportunities for the Company’s other drug candidates. The Company is actively pursuing these opportunities.

“We have attained strong positive achievements in the past twelve months in all of our drug development programs,” said Eugene Seymour, MD, MPH, CEO of the Company, adding, “We are confident that we will achieve further successes in our drug development and commercialization programs during the next calendar year as well.”

NanoViricides, Inc. Update on Eye Drug Development

NanoViricides, Inc. Update on Eye Drug Development

Monday February 9, 7:00 am ET

WEST HAVEN, Conn.-NanoViricides, Inc. , reported recently that on-going negotiations with a large pharmaceutical company have now progressed to an advanced stage. The pharmaceutical company initially plans to evaluate NanoViricides?s drug candidate for effectiveness against external ophthalmic diseases caused by two different virus types, namely herpes simplex virus and adenovirus. These evaluations will be performed by an independent research institute that specializes in diseases of the eye.

HSV and some adenoviruses cause most of the cases of keratitis, a serious infection of the cornea. Importantly, HSV infection can lead to corneal scarring that may necessitate corneal transplantation. In addition, some adenoviruses cause a majority of conjunctivitis cases . The remaining cases of conjunctivitis, caused by bacteria, are treatable with topical antibiotics. Currently, there are no effective treatments for viral diseases of the exterior portion of the eye.

The Company has already demonstrated strong efficacy against an adenovirus-caused external eye disease called epidemic kerato-conjunctivitis . Rapid clinical improvement in the treated animals was reported by independent researchers who tested the effects of the nanoviricides drug candidate against adenoviral EKC. Based on computer modeling, the Company believes that the broad-spectrum nature of the ligand used in this nanoviricide should enable it to be effective against HSV.

The total market for viral conjunctivitis is estimated to be in the billions of dollars. The incidence of severe herpes keratitis is estimated to be 250,000 cases per year in the USA. In Japan, where EKC is a reportable disease, it is estimated that there are at least one million cases per year. The number of cases of non-specific conjunctivitis is considered to be far greater, possibly into tens of millions in the US, and into hundreds of millions worldwide.

The Company will need to procure large quantities of the nanoviricides drug candidates for the upcoming studies. In order to support this production scale, TheraCour Pharma, Inc., the Company?s largest shareholder and licensor of the technology that the Company uses in its anti-viral drug development, has initiated a program to expand its laboratory facilities. TheraCour has entered into a Rule 10b5-1 trading plan to sell, over a one year period, up to 1.8 million shares of the Company?s common stock that it owns. The proceeds are to be used to pay for the necessary improvements in laboratory facilities, the purchase of analytical equipment, and the costs of intellectual property protection.

?NanoViricides will benefit from the advanced instrumentation that TheraCour plans to purchase without having to make the capital expenditure itself,? said Eugene Seymour, MD, MPH, CEO of NanoViricides, adding, ?Availability of larger quantities of our drug candidates will greatly expedite our drug development for a number of different viral diseases. This should accelerate our efforts to move our drugs into the FDA approval process.?

NanoViricides, Inc. Submits a Grant Application for Broad-Spectrum Nanoviricides

(OTCBB:NNVC) NanoViricides, Inc.

Sunday February 1, 11:20 pm ET

If Approved, Could Finance Dengue and Ebola/Marburg Drug Development

WEST HAVEN, Conn.-NanoViricides, Inc. , said that it has recently submitted a grant application to the Department of Defense. This grant, if awarded, will be used for the development of broad-spectrum nanoviricides drugs. If successful, a broad-spectrum nanoviricide could be employed as an important Medical CounterMeasure against bio-terrorism and emerging infectious diseases such as Ebola/Marburg, and Dengue.

The Company has already demonstrated that some of the nanoviricides we have created are broad-spectrum. It is believed that viruses are unlikely to escape such broad-spectrum nanoviricides by mutation because such mutations would also cause a loss of infectivity.

At present, other MCM efforts have generally resulted in highly specific one-bug-one-drug type of therapies, such as vaccines, antibodies, certain anti-sense therapeutics, and some other antivirals. Thus, a large number of drugs, vaccines and antibodies would need to be stockpiled to mitigate the threat from a countless number of pathogens and their known mutants. Further, if a virus mutates further, then most such agents are likely to become ineffective. Mutations are common in many viruses, and can also be genetically engineered to produce devastating bio-terrorism agents.

The Company has assembled a strong team comprising several renowned Institutions and Companies for the proposed project. There is no guarantee that the grant application will result in any funding.

Ebola viruses cause devastating disease with mortality rates as high as 90%. Dengue has now become endemic in most of the tropical world, and is becoming an important public health threat in the United States. A second infection from an unrelated dengue virus subtype can be life-threatening, resulting in dengue hemorrhagic fever or dengue shock syndrome . There is currently no drug or vaccine available for dengue viruses. The worldwide market for a dengue treatment could be possibly in the billions of dollars.
